Privacy policy

Last updated 15 October 2026

Wallmax (the website at wallmax.app and the Wallmax apps) is run by Muse Mesh Private Limited. This page says what we collect, why, and how to remove it.

The short version

  • You can browse and download wallpapers without an account.
  • If you sign in (Google or Apple), we keep your basic profile and the wallpapers you save, so they sync between the site and the app.
  • Your settings, including a wallhaven API key if you add one, stay in your own browser or app.
  • We never sell your data.

Account

When you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your name, email address and profile photo from them, and store them with the times you created your account and last signed in. We use this only to run your account.

Saved wallpapers and reports

Wallpapers you save are stored with your account (Google Firebase, which hosts our data). If you report a wallpaper, we keep your message and which wallpaper it was about, so we can act on it.

wallhaven

Wallpapers come from wallhaven.cc. On the website they are loaded through our servers and wallhaven's image servers; in the app, straight from your phone (see “In the app” below). If you connect your wallhaven account with its API key, the key is kept on your device and sent only with your own requests; we do not store it. wallhaven's own privacy policy covers your wallhaven account.

Analytics

We count visits with Google Analytics 4, in Google's “consent mode”. It works in two ways, and you choose which:

  • Until you answer, and if you decline: no analytics cookie is set. Your browser still sends Google short, cookieless signals: the page, the event (for example, that a wallpaper was downloaded or saved), the time, your browser and screen size, and a random number that changes on every page. Google works out a rough location from your IP address and doesn't keep the address. Without a cookie, these signals can't be linked into a history of your visits. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we take that as a decline and don't ask.
  • If you accept: Google Analytics also sets its own cookies on this site (named _ga, kept up to two years), so it can tell a returning browser from a new one.

Either way we see which pages and features people use, roughly where they are and how they arrived, never who they are. Search words are not sent, there are no ads on the website, and Google's advertising features and Google signals are switched off. We ask with a small notice once you have looked around; your answer is kept in your browser, and you can change it below or in Settings at any time (declining also removes the cookies Google Analytics set). Our team marks its own browsers so that our visits aren't counted.

Our hosting provider also receives standard technical information with each request (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and protect the service.

In the app

The Wallmax apps for Android and iPhone work like the website, with a few differences that come from running on your phone:

  • wallhaven, directly from your phone. In the app, wallpapers are searched and loaded straight from wallhaven.cc and its image servers by your phone, not through our servers, so wallhaven sees your phone's IP address as it would in your browser.
  • Images saved to your gallery. When you save a wallpaper or fit it to your screen, the app downloads it from wallhaven and puts it in your phone's gallery (on Android, in Pictures/Wallmax). Setting a wallpaper downloads it and hands it to your phone. Nothing about these files is sent to us.
  • Sign-in on your phone. The app signs you in with your phone's own Google or Apple sign-in. Google or Apple hands the app a one-time token, which signs you in to the same Wallmax account as on the website; we receive the same profile details as above.
  • Ads. The app shows an occasional full-screen ad from Google AdMob (there are no ads on the website). AdMob uses your phone's advertising ID and information about your device and app use to show and measure ads. Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA and the UK), Google's consent form asks you first, and you can change your answer at any time in Settings → Ad privacy options. You can also reset or delete the advertising ID in your phone's settings. Google's use of this data is covered by Google's advertising policies.
  • Notifications. If you turn on the daily wallpaper notification, your phone registers with Firebase Cloud Messaging, which gives it a push token, and subscribes it to the daily notification. We don't link the token to your account. Turn it off in Settings or in your phone's notification settings.
  • Analytics. The app asks once, when you first open it, whether we may use Google Analytics as described above; the answer is kept on your phone and you can change it in Settings.

Deleting your data

Delete your account any time in Settings: this removes your account and your saved wallpapers (step by step: wallmax.app/delete-account). Settings stored in your browser go when you clear this site's data. For anything else, write to kushal@muse-mesh.com.

Children

Wallmax is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.
